Spiritual values central to Australian Indigenous culture include virtues of self, interdependence on, and responsibility for others, and a strong connection to land. The West End Unity Garden uses these concepts to strengthen community by providing a garden that promotes connection to self , to others, and to place.

Based on the symbolic significance of the circle, a series of circular raised timber decks respond to the site to create a series of “rooms’, with integrated seating. The qualitites of each room promote a unique inter-relational experience.

The garden uses the natural elements of earth, water and sky, to create spaces of varying levels of intimacy that range from open to enclosed, and public to private.
